Ugo Berni Canani (Naples 1939 - Rome 1999) was an outstanding intellectual. A magistrate, by profession and choice, he was also interested in scientific matters and the humanities. The first part of the volume contains the papers he wrote from 1978 to 1999 covering a wide range of scientific disciplines. The second part is dedicated to some of his verdicts that ‘left their mark on jurisprudence’ while the third part contains early philosophical writings dating back to his student days in Recife (Brazil).
