Il «Parmenide»: Giorgio di Trebisonda e il cardinale Cusano

The first complete Latin version of the platonic «Parmenides», carried out in 1459 by Giorgio di Trebisonda commissioned by cardinal Niccolò Cusano, is conserved in the only «Volaterranus» codex 6201, full of textual corrections and glosses in the margins by the same Cusano and Giovanni Bessarione. The volume provides a critical edition and presents an analysis of the circumstances of the work with respect to the "Plato-Aristotle controversy" and the great interest for platonic thought in the 15th century.
