The essay considers Tozzi’s work through a study of descriptive utterance. The first part defines the singular semantic opacity typical of his descriptions, linking it up to more innovative aspects of his writings. The second part, dedicated to the descriptive mode, sets out to bring forth the dominant trends in Tozzi’s view, analysing the ways in which he perceives and captures his landscape.
