A sylloge of essays where literary language is contrasted with ordinary language and fundamental discussions are carried on about the advancement of literary knowledge and literary criticism, from the advent of structuralism and semiotics to the present day. Relevant comparisons are also instituted between the language of literature and the language of music, and the language of literature and the language of the theatre. There also three exemplary analyses and interpretations of literary texts.
