A reconstruction and investigation into essential aspects of the biography, the philological activity, the erudite production of 2 major Humanists from Belluno: Pierio Valeriano and Urbino Bolzanio. Carefully following the former through his philological teaching at the «Studium urbis», his fundamental opera of the «Castigationes virgilianae», his antique encyclopaedia of the «Hieroglyphica» with important biographical integrations. Reconstructing in detail the genesis of the «Institutiones grammaticae» of the latter and at the same time bringing new tesserae to the biographical matters and the lengthy collaboration with Manutius.
