Through an interdisciplinary reading, on an historical documentary basis, of the works comprising the reform of melodrama according to Gluck the unexpected presence of a complex and occult chain of masonic patronage is identified. The discovery solves the series of unexplained dramaturgical incongruities that still encumber this repertoire and alter the aspect of a reform whose theatrical products appear strongly conditioned in the depths of their dramatic structure by the discovery of their symbolic and ideological contents.
