This essay covers the mysticism of theologists, among aspirations and «new science», setting up - in the height of the 17th century - against the great ‘theatres of the mind’ the desert of 'nihil voluntatis': a line that developes from Giovanni Bona to Pier Matteo Petrucci, from the condemnation of quietism to the revival of mysticism in the re-reading of Ermes Visconti.

Sabrina Stroppa è ricercatrice di Letteratura Italiana presso l’Università di Torino. Si è occupata di mistica seicentesca e di letteratura spirituale con numerosi saggi ed edizioni.
