A Catalogue, Codicological Study and Album

Using the 63 mss of Boccaccio’s Il Teseida as an example, the catalogue proposes a model for the bibliographical description of paper and watermarks. The book uses codicological techniques to show how paper and watermarks can inform us about the manufacture, use, and preservation of the paper in the paper mills, stationery shops, scriptoria, binderies, and libraries. The album reproduces 137 drawings of previously unpublished watermarks. The book contains five appendixes and two indexes.
