The Renaissance tradition of Platonism, 'Ermetismo' and «Priscan theology» has also given fruit in the field of philosophic historiography. This volume reflects the difficulties of Ficinian and Pichian ascendancy on Agostino Steuco da Gubbio's conception of eternal philosophy and on his reconstruction of antique hermetic Orphean and Pythagorical doctrine demonstrating the bond between the necessity for innovation and reform present in the Church immediately before the Council of Trent.
