- About this book
The author taking position in favour of the high chronology of the Corinthian Cipselidi makes a comparison primarily with POxy.664 + 3544 which appears to want to lower the latest Periander period to the years ‘60-’50 of the 6th century. This is followed by a discussion on the chronological order of three historical personalities mentioned in the papyrus: Solon, Pisistratus and Periander himself. In particular the two Herodotus passages are examined according to which the hypothesis that the cipselide dynasty should be determined at an even later period than that suggested in POxy.664.
