This work, on the grounds of numerous documents and texts some of which were unpublished, examines the development of philosophical thought in Germany during the thirteenth century. Entire chapters are dedicated to encyclopaedic literature, to theological compendia of mid-century, to theosophy diffused among the large German Hebrew communities and to the philosophical and theological thought of Albert the Great, Ulrich of Strasbourg and Dietrich of Freiburg.
