L'Inno alle Grazie di Ugo Foscolo

This volume, animated by the desire to investigate the reasons that drove Foscolo to conceive a poem on the myth of the Graces, offers an unprecedented and comprehensive exegesis of the Inno alle Grazie, bringing together all the fragments of the laborious Prima redazione dell’Inno and the unitary but interrupted Seconda redazione dell’Inno. Accompanied by a lengthy interpretive preamble and introductions to the individual fragments and to each redaction, the study examines the poetic idea inherent in the first two compositional phases of the Hymn – which can safely be regarded as the summa of Foscolo’s knowledge – and unveils to the reader the process leading from the embryonic form of the poetic framework and structures to the developments that characterized its composition.

Daniela Shalom Vagata è Assistant Professor di letteratura italiana presso la Masaryk University; ha insegnato alla Kyoto University per quasi dieci anni, all’Università di Bologna e in alcune università americane in Italia. Si occupa di letteratura otto-novecentesca e in particolare del rapporto tra le arti e la letteratura nell’opera di Ugo Foscolo. È anche autrice di articoli sulla prosa narrativa di Eugenio Montale e di Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, sulla Vita nuova di Dante e sul cinema italiano.
