The letters collected here are part of the correspondence of Vittorio Cian (1862–1951) preserved at the archive of the Accademia delle Scienze in Turin, the catalogue of which has been published as part of this series. The volume includes 187 letters by Cian and 69 by his pupil Carlo Dionisotti (1908–98). Cian’s letters, like those of his pupil, introduce us to their work as scholars as well as their family, and their likes and dislikes.
