Le virtù di Griselda
Storia di una storia

Taking the moves from the extraordinary success of the story of Griselda, which in the Decameron is at the end of the tenth and final day, this work discusses the various theses regarding its origins. It acknowledges Boccaccio as the inventor of a specific narrative plot that has remained essentially the same for five centuries. The reason for this stability, like that of the changes, is sought in the evolution of the concept of virtue underlying the story in its various versions.

Raffaele Morabito
Raffaele Morabito è professore ordinario di Letteratura Italiana all’Università dell’Aquila. Autore di saggi sulla narrativa ottocentesca (il volume Antiromanzi dell’Ottocento, Bulzoni, 1977), sul rapporto fra oralità e scrittura (Parola e scrittura, Bulzoni, 1984), sulla letteratura epistolare (Lettere e letteratura, Edizioni dell’Orso, 2001), sulla straordinaria fortuna europea dell’ultima novella del Decameron (fra i vari interventi il volume Una sacra rappresentazione profana, Niemeyer, 1993), ha curato edizioni delle lettere di Ceccarella Minutolo (ESI, 1999) e delle novelle di Per le vie per l’edizione nazionale delle opere di Verga (Le Monnier, 2003). Ha scritto inoltre una storia letteraria dei terremoti (Il gran tremore, L’Una, 2011) e ha ricostruito alcuni clamorosi casi criminali della Roma barocca (Giustizie barocche, Stampa alternativa, 2006). - (novembre 2016) -
