The volume presents a detailed study on the first Italian translation of La Celestina, on the style and attitude of its translator, Hordognez, on the Italian language, and on the public of this book. The analysis of the translation confirms the translator’s desire to remain faithful to the original, his acute understanding of linguistic difficulties and of socio-linguistic differences, and his critical attitude towards the content of the work.

Raffaele Lampugnani
Raffaele Lampugnani ha insegnato e letteratura spagnola presso la Flinders University, e , cultura e letteratura italiane presso le università La Trobe e Monash in Australia. Oltre allo studio su Dante e la cultura letteraria del Medioevo e Rinascimento cura anche un interesse per la raffigurazione della cultura italiana in Australia, in particolare nel cinema e in testi autobiografici del secondo dopoguerra.
