Le chiese degli ospedali grandi di Venezia tra architettura e musica (1522 -1790)

The Ospedali Grandi of Venice are justly celebrated for their excellence in musical performance, which reached new heights during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The orphan girls housed in these institutions performed in the churches attached to the four hospitals. What impact did this musical activity have on the buildings? The volume traces the architectural history of the four buildings in order to identify the changes imposed by the demands of musical performance at particularly significant moments in their evolution.

Laura Moretti
Laureata in Architettura, Dottore di Ricerca in Storia dell’Architettura e dell’Urbanistica, diplomata in Violoncello, Laura Moretti si occupa da molti anni di ricerche sul rapporto tra architettura e musica. Ha partecipato a convegni e conferenze su queste tematiche e curato, con Deborah Howard, il volume Architettura e musica nella Venezia del Rinascimento, Bruno Mondadori, Milano 2006. Sempre con Deborah Howard ha scritto il libro Sound and space in Renaissance Venice. Architecture, Music, Acoustics in corso di pubblicazione presso Yale University Press. Dal 2005 al 2007 è stata Research Associate al Dipartimento di Storia dell’Arte dell’Università di Cambridge. Attualmente è Research Fellow presso Worcester College, Oxford.
