An incursion into the treacherous territory of carnival literature, in the footprints of the great American scholar Charles S. Singleton, leads us to rediscover Alfonso de’ Pazzi’s songs, dating back to the mid-16th century. In those songs, spicy obscene allusions intertwine with references to places, characters and crafts, thus providing a composite - at times hilarious - picture of Florence at that time. Two far-reaching studies on Carnival songs and the historical figure of Antonio de’ Pazzi complete this work.
