This second volume of Piero Parenti’s history of Florence consists of the critical edition of his autograph manuscript (Florence, Biblioteca Nazionale, ms II.IV.170) covering the period from April 1496 to March 1502, i.e. from the last years of Savonarola’s rule which ended with his being burned at the stake in 1498, to the crisis which led to the election of Piero Soderini as gonfaloniere for life. Includes a prefatory note, critical apparatus, indices of names, places and administrations, plus a general index arranged month-by-month.
