The cosmopolitan group of scholars whose studies appear in this volume discuss the topic «Democracy between liberty and the tyranny of the majority» focus chiefly on the 19th century, the century of the triumph of liberalisms, but with full awareness of the historical links to earlier and later periods, down to the beginning of the third millennium.
