Il Moro

«The Moor» is a philosophical dialogue on «true happiness»; whose literary, historical, political and doctrinal context is rebuilt showing its importance for the history of the English Reform and the European Counter Reform. The biography of the author Ellis Heywood (1530-1578) has been enriched while Reginald Pole’s diverse intellectual environment and his bond with Italian Protestants are reconstructed highlighting the relationship with «Il Beneficio di Cristo», an orthodox meditative text of Italian spirituals and Waldensians.
