Moving on from the non too easy reconstruction of Servius’ biography and his role in the intellectual circles of Late Antiquity to reviewing some aspects of coeval political, administrative and religious history reflected in his «Commentarii in Vergilii Carmina», this study intends to demonstrate the rereading that Servius accomplished of ancient times from an historical, artistic-monumental, philosophical, religious and literary point of view filtered through sensitivity and contemporary cultural categories.
