The commerical outline of the book trade in Ferrara during the Renaissance, characterized by an exceptional breadth and variety of culture, is reconstructed commencing with the detailed inventory of books on sale in the shop of an important stationer, Domenico Sivieri. With the support of many unpublished documents an investigation is held on the activity of town stationers and the variety of people involved in the diffusion of printed books in view of a complex interpretation of the stages of penetration of the tipographical product by means of commercial organization.
